GIO >= 2.30 if I'm not mistaken. You can do something like this in configure.ac to look for it: GDBUS_CODEGEN=`pkg-config --variable=gdbus_codegen gio-2.0` AC_SUBST(GDBUS_CODEGEN) And then use $(GDBUS_CODEGEN) instead of just calling "gdbus-codegen" in the Makefile.am.
