Slightly off topic, but I was cleaning out the garage last weekend and found 
the original receipt for this radio from 1994. I can't believe I paid $570 for 
it!

A comparable radio like the Yaesu FT-8800 goes for $360, today.


My, how things have changed since then...at least some of them for the better.

Back on-topic, I did end up getting a tracker 2 (should be here soon), but I'm 
not going to put it in the car just yet. I ordered cables for my HT and FT-857 
(HF/VHF/UHF) rigs, which are my "portables" for now. When I decide to mount 
something in the car permanently, I think I'll go with Lynn's advice and get a 
dedicated VHF radio for just the APRS.
