You are right. There are a number of Garmin units that have FMI capability and 
nearly all have the newer version (newer than used in the 350) of the FMI 
software which leaves the breadcrumb trail. One additional note, the new units 
also have the traffic option on the same cable which makes the price of the 
cable near the $100 mark as compared to the $21 for the cable used with the 
Nuvi 350.

As Scott pointed out in a post this last weekend (look at the messages), Garmin 
is beta testing a FMI software upgrade for the 1200/1300/1400 series that looks 
promising but still has work that needs to be done. Partner may be the wrong 
word but Scott IS trying to work with Garmin on issues for the HAM side of 
things.
