A bit OT perhaps But talking of the keyboard on the Nuvi 350 is there any way to change it to QWERTY ??
I struggle to get it right with the current ABC display It makes me have to think and that's dangerous at my age !! This cable : will put the 350 in FMI mode. You will be able to beacon your : position, see other APRS stations around you, and send and : receive APRS messages, as well as re-program the T2 from : the 350's keypad. Use the MAXRANGE setting to limit the : waypoints created by received position reports to "local" : ones only. You may still need to delete the waypoints once : in a while, and deleting them daily wouldn't be a bad thing. : That would prevent you from having old information on the : map... e.g. a mobile station that passed through the area : days, weeks or months ago. : : https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=90&osCsid=077e2cbc2095d271d6b6cc9685977c64 : : > thinking about running it on either my Yaesu vx 170 or my : > Yaesu ft2800m just not sure which way I want to go. all I do : > know is that I want to get it all setup very soon. : : The VX-170 will be "OK" if you are in an area with good : coverage. The FT2800 will allow you to run quite a bit more : power if needed. However, you will be dependent on the : setting of the volume control for proper reception on both : radios. One with a dedicated data port would be better, but : if those are you only two choices, go for it! You could always : make up two cables... one for the HT and one for the 2800. : Using a good external antenna will help with the HT, but if : you in an area a long way from digis or an IGate, the extra : power of the FT2800 will help. With that said, if you do : end up using the 2800, try low power and see how you make : out, and turn it up if needed. : : As well as using the OT2m as a tracker, you could also : put it in KISS mode and connect it to something like UI-View : if you are running Windows. www.ui-view.org : : Note... the Nuvi 350 must be powered via the cradle to use : the FMI cable, which will connect to the side connector. : : 73 es cul - Keith VE7GDH : -- : "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!" : : : : ------------------------------------ : : Yahoo!
