Adrian> Hi Douglas, following syntax works fine for me in XEmacs:

Adrian> /[multi/ssh:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/sudo:[EMAIL
PROTECTED]/u/user2/.ssh/authorized_keys

Adrian> GNU Emacs syntax is a bit different.

Michael> Douglas uses "Wanderlust/2.14.0 Emacs/21.3 (i386--freebsd)"
Michael> as user agent, so let's continue with the GNU Emacs
Michael> ("unified") syntax.

As Michael points out, I'm, right now at least, an Emacs user. (I
switch back and forth from Emacs and XEmacs at times, but I hope this
particular character flaw of mine won't cause you to dismiss me. :))

Adrian> 2.1 is different IIRC.

Yes, this is where I'm having problems.

Michael> With Tramp 2.1, one would need to define:

Michael> (add-to-list 'tramp-default-proxies-alist
Michael> (list "host.dom" "user2" "/ssh:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:"))

Michael> Then, a simple "/sudo:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/path/to.file" should
Michael> open the required file.

Works like a champ! My thinking in the multi needed to be turned
around for the proxy approach.

Adrian> Sincerely,
Adrian> Adrian Phillips

Michael> Best regards, Michael.

Thanks!
