Ange-FTP only hooks into the file-name-handler-alist, but EFS hooks into Emacs in more places. Where does it hook in and what do I need to do to replace it?
Basically, I'd create a Tramp function which looks whether it's dealing with an EFS filename and calls the EFS function, if necessary. Maybe it's good to advise the EFS functions, I'm not sure.
