It seems you're using an old version of Tramp.  The most recent
version of Tramp is available from
http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/tramp.

The old version of Tramp uses /[EMAIL PROTECTED]/path/to/file as the file
name format.  (The new version still uses this format on XEmacs.)
