Hm. I thought I had augmented tramp-shell-prompt-pattern, already? If it's been corrected in the CVS but not in the XEmacs package, it would be great if somebody did a release. See signature for why I can't do it myself. (Can't even install Emacs because it isn't on the ftp.gnu.org server...) -- I just moved and started a new job.
