Hi Marsha:

You might feel more comfortable realizing that the customer's bank
account number appears on the bottom of paper check today. The ACH
network is as secure as the mail and there would be little reason to
send banking data in an 835 not sent through the banks. Are you
concerned about unauthorized debits against your customer's accounts?
There are banking industry standards and practices (some with related
non-HIPAA X12 standards) to deal with those risks that are supported by
many, if not most, banks. Good luck.

Jim

We pay claims via EFT from our customers bank accounts. Does anyone
else
do this and are you uncomfortable with putting your customers bank
account
number on the 835 to the provider?
