Hi all

I'd like to talk about an idea that was spinning in my mind from a while.
Some facts:

. We're not dead, we're just progressing slowly since we're almost all out
of spare time to hack. Sigh.
. 1.0.x codebase is hard to hack, mantain, improve, and it's start aging
  (and perhaps stinking?)
. 1.1.x codebase is already MUCH better of 1.0.x in every single viewpoint
that I can consider. And no, thats isn't just because I've made so :P
. development of feature planned for 1.1.x will still take some *months*.

So, here it come the Crazy Idea:

- suspend NMS modules development at all for 1.1.0
- disable dormant NMS code that will be unused without modules (but that
  will not hurt anybody)
- solve still pending issues like some OSS import module regressions,
directory mode problems and rest of bugs
- add some goodies like libavformat-powered import module and old-style
  wrapper around existing encode_x264.c

- then go alpha and release (incomplete) 1.1.0 after not-so-much weeks,
very likely fin time or Christmas.

OK, that's a compromise. OK, that's maybe a regression. But from my viewpoint
1.0.x situation is going worse (and patchy) every week, and I'm not
comfortable with this situation.

Of course that's just an idea, yet.

Comments? Flames? :P

Best regards,
