Hi,

First of all: 1.0 CVS branch is unchanged since 1.0.2 released. Even md5sum
should match (not taking in account auto* stuff that can change with
autogen.sh).
If you need/want to try last changes, use CVS HEAD.

Even if unstable/development, CVS HEAD should be usable for a broad range of
users out there, I and Andrew (current devs) we use CVS HEAD in out day-to-day
use without any noticeable annoyance. Of course we don't cover all possible
use cases, and that's explain why CVS isn't "stable" but "unstable" :)

Neverthless, we (devs) really need to take a resolution about 1.0.x situation.
Having a 1.0.3 out in short time addressing most of known (and solvable)
issues will be a really nice thing.
Unfortunately, I REALLY can't take care of this by myself on those weeks.
Not at all. (for interested people, I'm just really caught and pressed by my
final thesis. Last weeks are harder weeks.)
I think Andrew is lacking time like (or even worse) as myself, so
that's a really good chance for someone else to step in :)

Having a pratice with C language isn't really needed for taking care of 1.0.x
branch.
CVS pratice, a attitude with users and time to do testing should be
enough. There is a good amount of patches out there listed on wiki and/or in
ML archives, it's matter to select, test and apply them. And finally roll out
1.0.3.
Volunteers? :)
