Just for the record, I'll happily reintroduce TS support in 1.1.0 if some patch pop out improving our situation. Speaking for myself, I firmly believe that only clean situation is restart from scratch (again!) rewriting all our MPEG support code. mpeglib (http://fromani.exit1.org -- WARNING: is outdated) is the way to go IMHO. Unfortunately, this will not happen before 1.2.0 /1.3.0 following my schedule. Is there anything to gain from "mythtranscode"? Looks like that's got usable MPEG_TS support. No - don't tell me. Mythtranscode is just a re-wrapped "transcode, version 1.0.x" is it? :-)
Well, at very first glance it looks like mythtranscode share with us just (part of) the name :) It's C++, so a direct port is not feasible; anyway, we can fetch at least some ideas (it's open source after all ;) ). We already have some code avalaible, some ideas and some docs quite reliable, the problem, mostly, is the lack of time/human resources. As immediate fix, import_mplayer (much improved in 1.1.0) it's supposed to work reasonnably well. (And just for the record, I've a DVB card into my buy list, so I will become directly interested into TS support in transcode :P. Of course, after 1.1.0 released.) bests, -- Francesco Romani
