Hello transcode users

Maybe I should ask someplace where dvdauthor is used but thought I would try
here because I think maybe I can solve it with transcode and this seems to be
where he experts reside.

I foolishly used another program (dvd::rip) to rip a
vob from a dvd. The program gave me 5 separate vob's of about 1GB each. Not
knowing what to do with 5 separate vobs' I used mencoder to cat them all
together (command: mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -o output.mpg *.vob)
(could I have used transcode?) and produced an "output.mpg". mplayer will play
the result from start to finish correctly.

Thinking that everything is OK, I then try to create a DVD image. I use the
command: dvdauthor -o output -x dvd.xml, I get a very long list of this:
-------------------------------------------------------
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...

WARN: Partial sector read (116 bytes); discarding data.
STAT: VOBU 0 at 0MB, 1 PGCS
Segmentation fault
---------------------------------------------------------------
When I look at the individual vobs' only the first of the vobs is recognized.
The other four are of "unrecognized filetype" and dvdauthor chokes.

Hope someone here can tell me what is going wrong. Or,if there is a dvdauthor
list, someone can direct me where to go.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide about my problem.

Bob S.
