I wasn't paying attention, and just wanted to make sure that you are not intending to mux raw pcm audio into your avi's. The sox command I provided was just the "canonical" example. You should probably use mp3 output if you intend to mux the sox output. Muxing raw pcm would make your file huge. BTW, the point of going through the seemingly insane steps of using mplayer just to get PCM, and sox afterwards is actually a way of leveraging all the error handling and correcting resources of mplayer and sox. There are broken streams all over the place, and you want to avoid having to bang your head against them if at all possible. There are similar tricks for handling broken video. Video can be broken in more ways than audio, however. Phil
