Hi All,

Since either probe_mov or libquicktime (or x264, or faad?)
seems to be unstable, and therefore transcode's mp4 container
handling is unreliable, I find the following script useful
for transcoding even broken or intentionally damaged mp4
(and any other containers!):

http://www.transcoding.org/cgi-bin/transcode?Mp42dvd

Note that it is a variation of avitovob.sh, and is WELL
commented. It should be of academic interest to anyone
who makes NTSC dvd's from arbitrary files found online.

Even though it is called mp42dvd, it will operate on
any of these container formats: avi, mkv, ogm, mp4, mpg.

It has been tested against the latest cvs/svn versions of
transcode-1.0.X, mplayer, ffmpeg, x264, and libquicktime.
It requires sox-12.18.1. It transparently handled a whole
raft of badly made mp4 files.

You MUST read the short comment block at the top and
optionally modify some lines (as described) to switch
between animated and live-action, or progressive and
hard-telecined source.

I hope somebody finds it useful.

Phil
