I find the status of high-level audio servers confusing at best.
Jack looks like a bit out of scope for transcode, pulseaudio is
emerging...
The most important showstopper is that I do not add support for every
server out there: we just do not have resources to mantain all of those.
So, to summarize,
- I don't have any objection to merge, in HEAD, a well-written third
party patch;
- Writing such patch isn't in my short term plan;
- I want to see how PulseAudio grow up;

thank you for your answer. i will try to learn .asoundrc (dmix, plug or
whatever it's called) for using channels 3 and 4 of my delta 1010lt as
the recording device (and not channel 1-2 by default).
still, jack + jammin (live mastering tools) + transcode miam miam :)
