I seem to have resolved the issue although I am a little puzzled as to
why :-). The mp3 conversion succeeded when I used the -m option but I
could only make the ogg conversion:

succeed when I substituted -o for -m. I have obviously missed
something basic here but I am grateful that it is now all working.
