Although I am by no means a power user like Michelle, I would strongly support this request. PostgreSQL has a higher initial learning curve, but is just more robust all round, and has none of the encoding issues that have cropped up for me in the past with MySQL. And of course MySQL's future is less clearcut than it used to be. Django officially supports the use of PostgreSQL, but I recognise that depending on the DB coding used in Pootle itself, it may be a big job to allow for a range of DBs.
