Stellenbosch fire still raging
Cape Town - A fire, which started at the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve on Wednesday, was still raging on Thursday morning, a municipal spokesperson said. "The fire is not under control," Roysten Harris, station commander of the Cape Winelands District Municipality, told News24. The fire started about "one kilometre from the top of the mountain" on Wednesday and was heading towards the Stellenboch area on Thursday morning, Harris said. He said that there were four helicopters, 10 fire engines and 90 rescue personnel working hard to bring the fire under control. So far no injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is still unknown, Harris said. However, one property was damaged by the fire on Wednesday. The fire was fanned by a strong Southeaster that rapidly drove it in the direction of the Coetzenburg sports grounds, Die Burger reported on Wednesday night. I dont know if Maureen is okay or has been affected by this. We need to keep her in our prayers, her friends, the school and infrastructure. Kind regards Jabulani Khumalo I.T.
