Oh no Simba, no offense taken especially for me.  The word of God says
instruction is our life and this is really good instruction that you have given
us.  This 5 part series is definitely one worth taking note of!

by now we have the first 3 steps

1. Tithing(10%)

2. Long term Saving(10%)

3. In case of emergency Saving(10%)

Step 4 : Cash Budget (70%)

so you have 70% left at most. the reality here is live within your

means. Minister Biti says eat what you kill.

the idea here is to create a budget before you begin consumption of

your income. i shall take you through a simple cash budget that can be

useful.

so you list all your expected expenses IN ORDER OF PRIORITY.

for example

Rent / Accomodation

Rates and Electricity(yes they are important)

Groceries

Transport

Breakfast / Lunch

Maid/gardner/guard etc

Family bills contributions

Phone / Internet / Airtime

Offering

Credit Accounts eg Truworths, Barbours etc

i shall explain briefly

Rent / Accomodation has to be paid becuase u need a place to sleep. if

u live in free accomodation praise the Lord, but always ensure u

budget for it and pay it as soon as possible

Rates and Electricity - we are christians and i believe we will be

convicted to pay for our usage of these national resources

Groceries - come up with a complete shoppin list, prices are generally

constant these days so you will know how much u require every month

for everything including bread, milk, vegitables. (u can take a

calender and count the number of days till the next income is expected

and have an exact figure)

Transport - take a calender and count the number of days and the

amount you require. you also need to take note of the extra journeys

eg when u go to the centre to church or when you go and visit family

once a week etc. for those who drive, u shld ensure you know roughly

how much fuel u use a day, a week etc and budget this.

Breakfast / Lunch - even if u have a pie for 50c every morning, count

the number of pies and budget for them. you know that on Sunday  u r

going to have a sub from Cross Cafe, budget for these. u like

banana's, budget for them.etc

Maid - u have someone coming in to do your washing, budget and pay them

Family Bill Contributions - maybe you need to buy medication for ur

parents, u need to give your sibling bus fare and tuck money,  u help

with ur parents groceries, u help with u parents bills etc, budget for

these

Airtime / Phone / Internet - find out how much u normally require and

budget for this not to just buy airtime becoz u have seen someone

selling or becuase u wer not responsible. if u buy some for

.........., budget for it.

Offering - you know how many services you attend every week. budget

for this and you can put in more as the spirit moves you but always

plan ur offering as we are often told.

Credit Accounts - though not recommended, if u have one, pay it on

time  to avoid being blacklisted. AVOID GETTING ADDICTED TO THESE

especially for clothes

Some might want to have a lunch or dinner out with family/friends etc

every week/2 weeks etc budget for this.

You know ur mum's birthday is on next month before u get money, budget

for it now.

You want to connect every sunday at connections, budget for it.

i am sure you have other things that you prioritise that you might put

on your list.

when you have you list, put figures to it, come up with your total and

see how it matches with your 70%. if you have excess praise the lord,

u can have an extra amount to bless someone, save, additional

offerings, etc

If you have less, go back to your list and start removing that which u

can live without eg 10 kgs of cornflakes, chocolate, cake every sunday

etc

Train yourself to live within your means and do not just spend

unnecessarily. whenever you live the house, have a rough idea of how

much budgeted cash you have and how much extra u have and do not go

beyond these limits. for example, u r coming to cross, u have bus

fare, offering and money for a drink after budgeted and say u have an

extra $2, do not go and buy 5 people drinks when u can only afford 3.

Step 5 : Do Not Borrow For Consumption

never borrow to pay rent or to buy food. if u can't afford the place u

r staying in, move to a cheaper place or share with someone. if u

can't buy all the food u want from ur income this month, wat makes u

think u will next month? u still have to pay back and ges wat, u r

borrowing again.

Try and avoid the,'ndipoo dollar' syndrome.

this is the last of the series. now i take questions, comments,

contributions, additions and subtractions.

i hope i didn't offend someone
