Actually, yes. KiCad project dumped the crappy one from 4.0 and now uses
part of another package called Freerouting
https://freerouting.org/freerouting/using-with-kicad

I use it with my new class on KiCad and it does a decent job on a simple
2-layer board.

I attached my latest board - the loop antenna was manually routed and the
rest was done by freerouting in about a minute.
