I think it is a bug in sig2dot which no longer seems to be maintained.
I've been having a look at it to port it from perl to PHP so that one could upload a binary keyring file and get back (later, via email) a Postscript or JPG graph. Instead of fixing the original I'll figure it out in PHP form.
