Bio Both Special Agent Thomas J. McGrath and Task Force Agent Patrick A. Niemann are assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's High Tech Crimes Task Force and stationed in Raleigh, North Carolina. They have a variety of Law Enforcement and technical experience and are responsible for working cases involving computer network intrusions, computer fraud and extortion, theft of intellectual property, as well as child pornography and exploitation.
Abstract Recent data shows an increase in Cyber attacks and resulting losses. These attacks can be attributed to various groups with a variety of goals. This presentation will address these groups, their attack methods, and some of the things that can be done to minimize exposure to these threats. Additionally, some steps to take should you become a victim are also discussed. Information will also be provided regarding the benefits of membership in an Infrastructure Protection organization known as InfraGard.
