I have a RHAS 2.1 server. I am trying to add an additional partition on a SCSI RAID array on the fly without a reboot (<-- The Key). I can easily create the partition using fdisk or parted, but once I exit either of these, the kernel doesn't seem to know about it:
Other then a reboot (which I know will fix the issue) is there another method for notifying the kernel of a partition change. fdisk states on exit: Re-read table failed with error 16: Device or resource busy. Reboot your system to ensure the partition table is updated. Any ideas?
