All, Lately, work has been keeping me from attending TriLUG's monthly meetings. Some of the presentations, like the recent MythTV and the VoIP I have really wanted to attend, but have been unable. I want to spur the interest in having our meetings archived... for posterity sake, for the community at large and for members who can't make the meetings. I'm not sure what method the archive should be done, but I have some suggested ideas. How to make it all come together and have the archives stored in the members area of our website is to be seen!
1. Best option - Get a DV cam w/ mic and tripod, set it, let it go, capture it and archive in some kind of cross-platform video format (mpg1, divx, etc) 2. 2nd best option - Get a microphone in there and at least capture the audio, put to cross-platform audio format (ogg, mp3, etc) 3. 3rd not so bad option - have step by step notes and How-To documents come out of these learning sessions (plain text, LDP, etc) 4. Worst option is to have someone try to take some similance of notes that might or might not make sense and can share with the group. For example, this is kinda like the 3rd option but helpful none-the-less (b/c I know someone has used this link to their advantage in our group) when we had our Postfix/Squirrelmail/other ... I typed as quickly as I could to document the evening's affairs, here is what I ended up with: http://www.turnpike420.net/linux2/Postfix_conf.txt and just for kicks, here's more stuff I've learned about postfix: http://www.turnpike420.net/linux2/Postfix.txt Anyway, I hope I am making my point. If I had a DV cam and could assure attendance to all meetings, I'd gladly volunteer my time to make it happen, unfortunately, I can do neither. I don't have a DV cam and I can't guarantee attendance (even though I wish I did and could!). Any thoughts on this? Thanks! David M. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
