lots of trilug folks use it to keep a persistent IRC session running on moya
(the trilug shell server). personally, i use it on many of my servers to
run monitoring utilities that i can "check" from time to time without
having to rerun them at every logon. it also comes in very handy if you're
on a flaky net connection, when running long jobs, or to work around ssh
timeouts.
