I have only had success using partition magic to shrink linux partions from the
backside. Any time moving from the frontside has trashed my linux install. I
have had good luck installing the boot manager to the 2nd linux partition and
using the windows boot manager to load linux. There is a NT howto that applies
to XP.

If I recall correctly, you can install Windows in some unpartitioned space
letting it set up the boot loader, then go back in and reinstall GRUB, LILO
etc. I think that building a boot diskette, or rescue CD would give you the
tools necessary to reinstall GRUB after Windows wipes it out in the MBR.

Study up on your grub.conf syntax ;')
