We're seeking someone to port a large commercial MS Access database application
to theLAMP (Linux Apache MySQL Perl / PHP) platform, and expect the project to
provide full-time work for 2 to 3 months.

The application is used by healthcare organizations to assess compliance with
the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act of 1966 (HIPAA), and
further to plan and manage the extensive compliance efforts required by HIPAA.
To learn more about the database please visit http://www.complyassistant.com.

The database is for the most part third-normal form. There are currently about
60 tables in the Access database (However about 28 of these are used to
reinitialize the database, i.e., restore it to "out-of-the-box" condition, so
do not necessarily contribute to the operation of the web-based port.). There
are about 150 stored queries used to drive forms and reports. There are dozens
of data capture forms and viewable/printable reports, many of which offer
extensive "filtering" - i.e., show only records with certain criteria defined
by user-selected form fields. There is extensive use of Visual Basic for
Applications (VBA) within the application.

In porting the database to a LAMP platform, the owner expects to host user data
files on a secure server, to provide user authentication, and to enable users
to avail themselves of the full range of capabilities offered by the MS Access
tool. Thus, the existing MS Access tool can be considered a functional
specification for the ported web-enabled incarnation, with inter-organizational
security the only additional capability to be added to the current system.

Local RTP resources include the MS Access developer who brought the application
to market on November 1 and continues bug-fixing, user support, and
enhancement. This developer is a little more than passing-familiar with MySQL
and PHP, as well as Javascript, so can provide both insight into the operation
of the MS Access application and (if needed) help in translating the MS Access
behavior into functional PHP code.

Anyone wishing to be considered for this programming assignment should contact
Gerry Blass (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]). Please forward a resume citing relevent
experience, the contact information (phone, email) for at least three
references for whom significant web applications have been written (involving
PHP, MySQL or other open source DBMS: include the web sites if publicly
available), compensation requirements, and a statement of why this work would
be interesting.
