Thanks everyone for the suggestion to put the modem into bridging mode. I didn't know I had the option.

In order to configure the device I googled for "router model name
bridge mode" and eventually I found what I was looking for. What
model DSL router do you have?

no luck there, It's a Westell C99-610015-00.

I haven't called tech help yet. I expect I'm going to have to go through setup with a windows box. I was hoping just to stumble my way through without having to use windows. The windows box I have normally sits behind my firewall and hasn't been hardened. If I connect it up to the DSL modem to go through the setup procedure, I'm going to have to put zone alarm onto it first.

I'm supposed to setup using a CD running on a windows box which needs to install something on my computer before it will run. All I need is a half page of instructions on paper :-(

Thanks
Joe
