several people have referenced Microsoft's Style Guide. Is there an Open Source standard or style guide?
I'm not familiar with the information that is in a style guide so may need to explain more of what kind of information you are looking to find. It may be the same vein but not quite what you want but there is The Linux Documentation Project Author Guide (formerly known as HOWTO to write a HOWTO):
