Just a quick update on this issue - after further testing with a second
Creative brand modem, we still couldn't make a connection to the old
1200baud modem.
So - after testing the very first modem I was able to borrow from Paul
(a USR 56k sportster) it worked without a hitch. I don't know what the
deal is with those Creative's but I can't help but think there's
something goofy going on there.
