Actually it's not even that simple.  (hd0,0) is the first partition on
the first hard disk in the BIOS boot order, which might or might not
be the first IDE drive.  In fact, it might not even be an IDE drive at
all, on a system with both IDE and SCSI drives it might be sdx,
although that's not likely on a laptop.
