One thing to think about in buying an HDTV card is whether or not it does (bad) or doesn't (good) implement the broadcast flag http://www.eff.org/broadcastflag/ The broadcast flag is an attempt by the movie studios to restrict what can be done with digital TV material. THe FCC had written rules requiring implementation starting last summer, but the DC Circuit court tossed it out before it went into effect. There's pressure on Congress to enact it into law. While there is a window, there are still cards available which don't implement it. Since most of the interesting uses of a capture flag wouldn't work if the broadcast flag were implemented it just might be an important factor in the buying decision. The EFF recommends the card which Josh pointed to (http://www.pchdtv.com/) since it does NOT implement the flag. I tried looking at the digitalconnection web site to investigate the cards there, but gave up after firefox warned me about iffiness with their ssl certicates. -- Rick DeNatale Visit the Project Mercury Wiki Site http://www.mercuryspacecraft.com/ -- TriLUG mailing list : http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/trilug TriLUG Organizational FAQ : http://trilug.org/faq/ TriLUG Member Services FAQ : http://members.trilug.org/services_faq/
