Brian,

Check the BIOS.  There is usually a setting for what behavior to take after
recovery from a power failure.  Usually the options are something like
"Off", "On", "Remember last state".  If you have a power hiccup, and this
was set to "On", the conditions would have been right for the server to
start on its own.
