Nope, not CPU bound. And yes, IO bound a lot of the time. systat shows that iowait% accounts for very near the total CPU utilization (pretty graph showing CPU usage at http://briteideas.blogspot.com/2006/05/cpu-utilization-on-p4-28ghz-fileserver.html). >From the responses so far, I think I'll stick with my non-SMP kernel.
