Howdy folks. I'm the guy that got elected to the SC by default a couple of months ago. In the time since then, I've gotten a job working with Linux (Cerient Technologies), gotten an introduction to our current TriLUG cluster (the formation of a sys-ad sub-committee will help me move along here), and made serious noises about reviving another LUG:
http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/unclug/2006-April/thread.html and http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/unclug/2006-May/thread.html I feel like I'm just getting started and would love the chance to keep going for another year. If you elect me to the SC, I'd like to help the LUG (a) form and maintain an active sys-ad subcommittee. The current system of handing off all sysadmin duties from one person to one other person is broken. More awareness and participation from the wider membership would help ameliorate this situation. I'm not sure all the members are aware just how many services are available through the cluster. (b) institute (by amending the bylaws) an electronic voting system that prints a paper ballot (and a receipt copy?) for the voter which is then placed in a box to be counted (by hand in the case of our small LUG), (c) encourage expansion of the wiki, (d) there's no "d" here, (e) ??? and (f) Non-Profit! (we're a 501(c)(3) after all). So... that's about it. Any questions? We'll have a quiz tomorrow at ~19:00. Bring two forms of ID and gpg slips. Linux-ily Yours, CMP -- Cristobal M.
