This is something I miss from attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando. You could see the shuttle in the middle of the day without assist. It was cool to be walking between classes, look up and see the shuttle. Too cool.

I've also watched several night launches from Lake Jordan. In a telescope you can see the bell shaped flame. The last one I saw left an enormous cloud in the stratosphere above the launch site. I assume it was water vapour.
