You might want to look at DBMail (http://www.dbmail.org/). Last time i
checked they had support for several databases, not sure about MSSQL
though.

I used this at home with MySQL for years... The only problem is my
server died ;-(

Very responsive development team too. I had some issues with DBMail
and Mutt and ended up working with both sets of developers to get the
issues resolved.
