recently a news story about google came up in the news and said they are writing programs that will turn on your webcam and microphone remotely so they can " see what products you use and listen to what radio and tv shows you watch".
This kind of urban legend doesn't really do anybody any good. Focus on being sensible about securing the services and devices that you use. Again, I would urge you to look into Tor (http://tor.eff.org/) and similar. There is, however, a grain of truth in what you say above. There are apparently many, many "unsecured" webcams out there that you can watch: http://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/04/googling_unsecured_w.html This one works for me, for example: http://216.231.170.182:5903/MultiCameraFrame?Mode=Motion&Language=0 Seriously though: look into Tor. -CMP -- Cristobal M.
