While I'm not using the main Ubuntu distro right now, I've been real
happy with a couple of their specialized distros...
Xubuntu, which is one of the only recent distros I have tried that
really works well on older hardware (with a gui, that is).

Also, the edubuntu distro is one of the best ones out there if you want
