On IBM's it depends on which server you buy, just like HP. On the low end, you have to buy the addon card. On the high end, it's part of the machine.

The thing that you refer to as "Service Processor" must be an IBMism, HP
calls it something different, in older servers it was an expensive option.
Now it's built in to every server, licensing it for enhanced mode is a
$200 markup with volume discounts.

It seems that we all tend to like that which we are most familiar....

Oh, and I've used both IBM Director and HP Insight. I have to say from
an administration and user standpoint, I prefer the IBM Director.
I've worked with both also and have to agree Director is far superior
(and available on something like 13 different operating systems),
especially for clusters. Some people may compare Director working naked
with Insight working with an Insight service processor (about $800
add-on product) and come to a different conclusion. In which case they
want to see Director working with an IBM service processor (about a $200
add-on product for those servers that don't already some with one
embedded).

HP inherited Insight from Compaq. It's not an HP technology.

And don't even think about Dell OpenManage.
