My home workstation is running a Shorewall configured firewall. I have 1 interface, but have defined two zones: hosts on the local network, and hosts on the internet. In order to support bittorrent uploads, I configured it to allow connections from the internet on ports 6881 and 6882, and it all works fine. However, I routinely see connection attempts from my outside firewall/router - a Linksys box - to port 6881 and 6882, which get dropped by the Shorewall based firewall because I don't expect to see bittorrent traffic from hosts on the local network.
Any idea why I get these connection attempts from the Linksys box? I used to get only a few, but they have been increasing lately. BTW, the Linksys box is port forwarding those ports (tcp+udp) to my workstation.
