I received a reply from Christian.  When installed, Minitube should pull in  
the phonon-backend-xine if no phonon-backend is installed.  Apparently this  
did not happen and the only phonon-backend installed is the  
phonon-backend-gstreamer that I installed manually.  If minitube is  
installed, the user will need to check that one of the phonon-backends are  
installed.
