I just wanted to follow up for any one reading my post. Tablets are very  
problematic when it comes to non-free software currently. I have spoken with  
the people involved. They are working on changing this and have had some  
successes. Despite current generation tablets being a problem they are  
focused on fixing these issues. It should be a safe device to buy.
