Those packages are meta-packages, i.e., their "raison d'être" is to  
conveniently install a whole set of packages they have in dependence, whereas  
they do not install anything by themselves. In other words, removing such  
meta-packages does not alter your system in any way and is a normal step to  
pass by when you remove an application provided by the default install  
(conveniently defined as a few meta-packages). The only "problem" (which may  
not be one for you) is that APT will never propose you to install a new  
application Trisquel's developers would like you to discover (hence include  
in the default Trisquel, i.e., as a dependence of a meta-package).
