You do not want any /etc/X11/xorg.conf (Xorg's auto-configuration works well  
nowadays). If you have one that specifies the "vesa" driver then it is the  
driver in use and it (very) poorly exploits your graphical chipset. You can  
have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf.vesa though (under this name, its configuration is  
not used).
