I don't know Alienware M11x although it's only recently that Dell started  
implementing the digital restrictions. It may also be that the card you got  
was in the white list. I would not assume that all Alienware M11x systems are  
digital restriction free.

As far as I know Dell, Toshibia, Lenovo/IBM, and HP have shipped laptops with  
digital restrictions on the Mini PCIe slot. I highly recommend avoiding these  
companies at all costs.
