There's actually a very easy way to do this without compiling stuff...
Cutting edge versions of FireFox and Thunderbird, just install PPA: https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/thunderbird-next https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/firefox-next Or stable releases: http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/firefoxYou'll need to download each .deb seperately, but there's only like 3 required.
