I later decided to dust off my switch and the box of old ethernet cables from the back of my closet and resurrect my wired network for the next little bit so that I can make a few monthly donations to the developers first, but it was the psychological value of knowing how easy and inexpensive a hardware upgrade can be that gave me the courage to finally take the plunge.
