I agree it might is better in some ways. I'm not sure Debian though is going  
to be less of a challenge working with upstream. In fact I'm inclined to  
think it may be easier to work with Ubuntu than Debian.

If you have worked with both I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. I  
suspect it is changing one bureaucracy for another.
